The CIVITAS Initiative supports ambitious cities that are introducing sustainable urban transport policy strategies.
The aim is to achieve a significant change in the modal split towards sustainable transport modes and make a real difference for the welfare of European citizens. One of the projects within the CIVITAS Initiative is CIVITAS GUARD which undertakes the following activities: - To evaluate the measures that are implemented by 17 demonstration cities; - To monitor the progress of the demonstration projects; - To disseminate the knowledge of the CIVITAS demonstrations. GUARD is also responsible for organising the CIVITAS forum that meets annually, this year in Bologna, 9-11 November 2008.
