Participants discussed local initiatives on youth unemployment.
Our working group on employment met in Newcastle on 22 October. Participants from 18 different cities discussed the various initiatives being taken at local level to reduce youth unemployment, with a focus on the implementation of the youth guarantee, and the continued development of vocational education and training pathways.
The working group set out its priorities for 2015, which include addressing the skills gap in Europe; long term unemployment among older people; employment opportunities for vulnerable groups; and developing a more inclusive labour market. In addition, the working group committed to furthering its cooperation, including through the development of European-level projects.
