The next in our series of urban dialogues debates will focus on migration and asylum issues in cities on 21 September.

Join us on 21 September for a discussion on migration and asylum in cities at The Centre in Brussels. The debate is part of a series of 'urban dialogues' we are organising together with The Centre, Edelman Brussels' forum for debate. The first in the series took place on 12 May, where participants discussed tackling unemployment in Europe's cities.

At the debate on 21 September, we will discuss the very topical issue of migration. The debate will be moderated by Ryan Heath, senior correspondent at POLITICO Europe, and speakers will include Ahmed Aboutaleb, mayor of Rotterdam, and Thomas Fabian, deputy mayor of Leipzig and chair of the EUROCITIES Social Affairs Forum. The discussion will focus on the role cities play in the field of migration and asylum, and the challenges they face. The debate follows the publication of our statement on asylum and our participation in a meeting of the European Parliament's LIBE (civil liberties and home affairs) meeting on the topic. Please see the links to the left for our statement and details of our intervention at the committee meeting.
