Green Digital Charter: cooperating with Chinese cities

  • knowledge society

We proposed creating a network of Chinese cities to act as a counterpart to our European Green Digital Charter, working on energy efficiency through ICT.

At the EU-China Urbanisation Partnership Forum on 29 June, we presented our Green Digital Charter (GDC). The charter is a commitment signed so far by 46 European cities. By signing, they commit to using ICT as a driver to improve energy efficiency.

Our presentation, which is available here, focused on the benefits of networking cities in this way. The benefits are wide ranging, but can include for example, the exchange of knowledge, creating synergies and economies of scale, improving the replicability of solutions and developing trust.

We proposed creating a Chinese network of cities which would act as a counterpart to our European GDC network.
