The European Mobility Week and Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan awards are now open.
European Mobility Week (EMW) has launched the 2014 edition of its annual award. The award recognises the local authority that is deemed to have done the most to promote and raise awareness of sustainable urban mobility. The winner will be used as a best practice example, and will be awarded a free promotional video.
To be eligible, candidates should have participated in the latest edition of European Mobility Week, which happened last week on 16-22 September. Their participation in EMW should also have included organising a car-free day, and they must also be signatories of the EMW charter. Applications, to include a signed copy of the charter, should be submitted by 1 November 2014. Click here for more information.
Meanwhile, the European Commission's sustainable urban mobility campaign, Do the Right Mix, has announced its EU Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) award, offering a prize of €10,000. This rewards cities and regions that have put together plans to meet the major challenge of sustainable urban mobility planning. Authorities participating in this award need not have completed the entire process of developing a SUMP to be eligible. The focus of this year's award is 'monitoring implementation to improve the SUMP'. The deadline for applications is 3 November 2014. Click here for more information.
