The two day awareness raising seminar took place from 19-20 June at our offices in Brussels.
Our social affairs team welcomed city officers from 14 of our member cities this week for a two day awareness raising seminar. The event took place at our offices in Brussels on 19-20 June.
City officers were given a general introduction to our network, and to the structure and governance of the EUROCITIES Social Affairs Forum. Our projects team gave a presentation on EU funding programmes and delegates participated in a training exercise on how to develop project bids.
The theme of the seminar, ‘social Europe’, was discussed in greater detail. Evelyn Astor, policy officer at European Commission DG employment, social affairs and inclusion, gave a presentation on the Social Investment Package and the role of cities in it. Our social affairs team also presented a mid-term review of Europe 2020 from the point of view of cities.
During the two day event, city officers joined dedicated speednetworking sessions around our different working groups and visited the Committee of the Regions.
The seminar gave city officers the opportunity to network together informally and to meet staff from across our secretariat.
