Together with more than 20 city and regional networks from around the world, we're hosting an event at COP 22 on 'Financing the sustainable transition of territories' on 14 November.
Our event is part of the Climate Summit for Local and Regional Leaders during the 22nd session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 22) to the UNFCCC in Marrakech on 7-18 November.
Our event, on 14 November, will focus on the role local and regional governments play in implementing the Paris Agreement. Participants will discuss the applicable governance systems and vertically integrated partnerships, and will assess the challenges, needs, opportunities, and solutions to improve cities’ and regions’ access to climate finance all over the world.
Thematic forums under the umbrella title of ‘Climate finance by and for everyone‘ will enable participants to compare notes on the financing solutions adopted by local and regional leaders.
One of two side events will be dedicated to the Covenant of Mayors’ global initiatives, where best practices on low-carbon transition planning will be exchanged. The other side event - the third session of city climate financing training - will bring together politicians and technical experts from Morocco and Tunisia for a discussion on ways to make the development of resilient low-carbon urban strategies more efficient.
