We signed the 'Nantes Declaration of climate actors' during the Climate Chance summit on 26-28 September.
EUROCITIES participated in the first Climate Chance summit in Nantes on 26-28 September, where thousands of non-state actors came together to sign the ‘Nantes Declaration of climate actors’ and to build on the momentum of the Word Summit of Climate & Territories in Lyon (July 2015) and COP 21 in Paris (December 2015).
Just a few weeks away from COP 22 in Marrakech, the Nantes Declaration reaffirms the need for commitment to keep global warming well below 2°C, and calls for concrete actions that pave the way to achieving the Paris Agreement objectives.
As a proud signatory of the Nantes Declaration, we hosted a promotional stand at the Climate Chance summit and a plenary session on sustainable European cities. The session underlined the importance of making the energy transition a resource for further economic development and stressed the pivotal role city play in implementing a new societal model based on the opportunities offered by the energy transition.
