Our economic development forum (EDF) will meet in Netwerkstad Twente on 11-13 April to discuss how cities can capture as much of the value of innovation as possible.
Using the approach developed in Netwerkstad Twente, our members will take a closer look at the factors that play a role in the success of innovative businesses in the context of government-university-industry interactions (triple helix model).
Forum members will discuss how added value can be achieved in terms of economic growth through improved cooperation between the triple helix partners. Three special sessions will explore how these partners can enhance their cooperation. The first session will look at how large companies support SMEs in their quest for international growth; the second will focus on the potential of public procurement to fuel innovation; and the third will look at the way cities cooperate with knowledge institutes to speed up the uptake of new technologies, such as the Internet of Things or open data.
As has been the case over the past two years, the forum will open with a seminar organised by our metropolitan areas working group on 11 April. Also on 11 April, Netwerkstad Twente will host a special workshop on hackathons and creathons (20creathon.eu).
