EUROCITIES 2013 Ghent took place on 27-30 November

EUROCITIES 2013 Ghent, our annual conference, took place on 27-30 November. At the conference, city representatives, politicians and stakeholders debated the role of smart citizens in creating smart cities, and explored how cities can embrace and unleash the smart capacity of their citizens.

Dan Hill, CEO of communications research centre Fabrica, reflected on this in his keynote speech, followed by a panel of mayors who discussed projects from their cities designed to engage smart citizens.

These sessions were part of a busy agenda in Ghent. The conference opened with the annual EUROCITIES awards ceremony and a series of workshops gave participants the chance to visit some of Ghent’s smart citizens initiatives. There were also opportunities to network, both informally and at the popular speednetworking sessions.
