The current trends and future priorities on migrant integration were the discussion topics for our working group migration and integration's latest meeting.
Among the topics of discussion at the meeting in Zurich on 30 September and 1 October was how to target local host populations through integration measures, as well as how to address the challenges presented by the rise of EU citizens arriving in cities in search of better perspectives.
Participants took part in a welcome ceremony for newcomers, organised by the city's integration service. This was a good example for other cities of how Zurich provides a welcoming environment for its new foreign residents.
The working group set out its priorities for 2015, which include the continued implementation and reporting of the Integrating Cities Charter, a closer look at the role of cities in asylum, and using culture as an instrument for social inclusion.
