CASCADE partners met for the final consortium meeting in Brussels on 1-2 April
The final CASCADE consortium meeting in Brussels on 1-2 April 2014 was an opportunity to share achievements and lessons learnt over our three year CASCADE peer-to-peer learning and networking programme.
CASCADE cities explained how the project has led to improvements in existing policies and projects and has inspired new ones. For example, Tampere described how the CASCADE peer review helped it to improve its energy efficient buildings policy, while Mannheim explained how a CASCADE study visit led to improvements in the way the city communicates its energy efficient services to citizens.
Participants also discussed how to make the most of the experience and knowledge gained through CASCADE and how to sustain the CASCADE network of city experts and decision makers after the project ends. They emphasised that the CASCADE peer-to-peer methodology can help cities learn from each other and thus should be disseminated both at national and European level. In addition, they stressed the need to stay in contact with their CASCADE counterparts and come up with ideas on how to keep the CASCADE network running.
CASCADE finishes on 31 May 2014, but CASCADE partners have committed to continuing the collaboration and sharing of experiences after the end of the project.
