Anna Lisa Boni, new EUROCITIES secretary general, takes up her post today.
She joins EUROCITIES from the French region Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur, where she was director of the Brussels office. She has 20 years of professional experience in EU public affairs in the field of local and regional government. She has worked for the city of Bologna in Italy, and has extensive experience with international and European networks and the European Parliament.
Anna Lisa Boni is a committed European through education, upbringing and career, and has worked for a stronger recognition of cities' challenges within the European agenda.
Speaking on her first day, she said: “As I begin leading the EUROCITIES team, my first steps will be to ‘look, listen and learn’, and then to act in a way that best serves Europe's big cities. For they are key players in the European project, and centres for generating renewal and growth.”
Based in Brussels since 2001, Anna Lisa Boni is of Italian nationality and speaks four European languages.
Vanda Knowles, who has been representing the network as interim secretary general, will now return to her role as policy director.
