Copenhagen closing the plastic packaging loop

In Copenhagen, around half of the plastic waste comes from food packaging. To reduce the amount of plastic ending up in incineration plants, Copenhagen has designed a new system encompassing every single step of the plastic lifecycle, from collection to new packaging available on the market.

Antwerp - The Big Link

In 2016 Antwerp introduced innovative governance methods to overcome public opposition to a ring road extension project. The resulting co-created plan to cover over the road not only resolves citizens’ main objection by reducing pollution from the motorway. It also creates new green spaces for communities and a more cohesive and connected city.

Bristol’s Smart Homes

Our members first past the finish line at Europe's top mobility awards

Europe’s leading lights in sustainable transport were honoured yesterday at the 2019 CIVITAS Awards. Our member cities of Antwerp, Bremen, Stockholm walked away with Europe’s most prestigious prizes for clean, green mobility, as did the Ukrainian city of Vinnytsia.

Milan: using people power to fight plastic pollution

The city council in Milan has decided to take on plastic pollution as an environmental priority. To achieve this, Milan didn’t hesitate to learn by doing. Through its new initiative ‘Milano Plastic Free’, the northern Italian city wants to get rid of polluting plastics and increase citizens’ awareness of the environment and sustainable lifestyles.
