Access to high quality services is key to ensuring economic, social and territorial cohesion. Public services such as the supply of drinking water, treatment of waste water, waste management and social services are expected to be delivered efficiently, respecting sustainable development principles, at reasonable cost and on a regular basis for all.

EUROCITIES Social Affairs Forum is a platform for local authority practitioners to discuss policy development in order to guarantee both the high quality and the free choice of public services. Our main focus is on a new European Commission strategy for the single market and a quality framework for public services at EU level.

We are contributing the European debate on the future of services of general interest (SSGI) in order to ensure access for all citizens to high quality public services. We also work to adapt procurement policy to current challenges linked to the Europe 2020 strategy and its flagship initiatives, notably the Innovation Union, the Agenda for new skills and jobs and the Single Market Act.
