Bringing together cities, business and R&D communities, Nordic Edge has become the largest smart city event in the Nordics, and around 4000 participants from over 25 countries are expected to attend this third edition of the event. Representatives from cities like Eindhoven and Hamburg, the European Commission, the Nordic Council and global companies like Microsoft are amongst the speakers.
The conference is organised with a plenary session, focusing on topics such as smart business models and the smart cities of tomorrow. A number of parallel workshops will also be arranged, centered around themes like mobility, welfare technology, energy and climate, Big and open data, citizen involvement and more. A smart city safari and other social events in Stavanger are also included in the programme.
Nordic Edge consists of a conference and expo, in addition to smart city safaris and networking opportunities. The conference presents city leaders visions for future smart cities and communities and discusses new business models and opportunities. In addition to concrete examples from smart cities, there will be workshops on themes like citizen involvement & living labs, on mobility, energy, welfare technology, IoT, data and security, to mention a few.
Nordic Edge is a spin-off of the Horizon 2020 funded project Triangulum, and the Stavanger Region European Office has been involved in the Nordic Edge from the very start. We would like to bring your attention to two workshops that we at the Stavanger Region European Office is co-organising during the Nordic Edge 2017:
- 27 September: Leading the Way to a Smart Future – Meet the New Lighthouse Cities, where the latest edition of frontrunner cities awarded funding under the smart cities lighthouse call of the EU research & innovation programme Horizon 2020 will be presenting their winner projects – including the cities of Hamburg, Nantes, Glasgow and Rotterdam. Co-organised with Greater Stavanger Economic Development. The preliminary programme is attached to this e-mail.
- 28 September: Healthy Living in Smart Cities – Seizing Opportunities and Delivering Tangible Results, on how smart city policy and innovation can foster healthy citizens, healthy communities and healthy cities. Co-organized with the CORAL network.
