EUROCITIES report maps the situation of Roma in cities in Europe

EUROCITIES has conducted a mapping study in 23 large cities in Europe, which have big Roma populations. The findings from the mapping study are presented in a comprehensive report that reveals the situation of Roma inclusion at local level.

Pact of Amsterdam

The Dutch EU presidency secured an agreement on the Pact of Amsterdam, establishing an urban agenda for the EU, during the 30 May informal Council meeting on urban matters. This shows important political recognition of the role of cities in the EU, providing a new framework for their involvement in developing and implementing EU policy.

Our report is based on the findings of a survey carried out at the end of 2015 among EUROCITIES members. We collected informationfrom 34 cities in 17 EU member states and Norway.

EUROCITIES statement on the review of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD)

Energy efficiency is a major issue in our local efforts to mitigate climate change but also in providing green jobs and addressing energy poverty. As European cities, we manage extensive portfolios of public buildings and we can also, depending on our legal authority and financial and administrative capacity, regulate, incentivise and assist with improving the energy efficiency of privately owned buildings. However, improving private buildings remains particularly challenging.
