The "Big public buyers" meeting will be organised on 6 December 2017 by the European Commission's DG GROW in collaboration with EUROCITIES.
It will be a non-regular meeting of representatives of public buyers whose purchasing power distinguishes them in the context of the EU's Single Market. The main focus in the selection of such stakeholders will be on large and capital cities in the EU.
As well as a chance for industry leaders to brainstorm on possible partnerships, there will be talks on linking buyers and suppliers, cross-border partnership in public procurement, and a session on digital transformation in relation to this process. Different city and projects representatives will deliver unique insights into demand aggregation and joint procurement in the field of innovation, gleaned from close cooperation with the European Innovation Partnership on Smart Cities and Communities and with other lighthouse projects.
One of the outcomes of the December and any future meetings will be to facilitate the exchange of best practices among stakeholders.
This first meeting will have a strong emphasis on the topic of innovation.
