The 2016 General Assembly of the European Innovation Partnership on Smart Cities and Communities takes place in Eindhoven on 24 May.
The General Assembly of the European Innovation Partnership on Smart Cities and Communities (EIP SCC) is the place to learn about key policy and market trends for smart cities and communities. With over 400 participants expected, there will be plenty of opportunities to make new contacts and build networks within the smart cities community.
The General Assembly is organised jointly by the European Commission Directorates-General for Mobility and Transport (MOVE), Energy (ENER) and Communications Networks, Content and Technology (CONNECT).
Violeta Bulc, European commissioner for transport, and Melanie Schultz von Haegen, Dutch minister for infrastructure and the environment, will open the assembly. Maroş Šefčovič, vice president of the European Commission in charge of establishing a European Energy Union, will deliver a keynote speech.
Participants will explore how to grow smarter cities and scale up smart city solutions in Europe and beyond through a high level plenary discussion and a series of breakout sessions. EUROCITIES has taken over the lead of the EIP SCC action cluster on business models, finance and procurement, and in this role we will host a breakout session on this theme as part of the conference programme.
Participating in this event is an opportunity to learn more about the various EIP initiatives designed to contribute to developments in key smart city areas such as smart mobility, energy, lighting and urban platforms.
